Assembly Line

An assembly line is a manufacturing process in which parts are added to a product in a sequential manner to create a finished product much faster than with handcrafting-type methods. And this is exactly what made Henry Ford's business so successful. Because employees didn't have to take more than two steps to accomplish their job the process went by very quickly.

The mass production techniques Henry Ford championed eventually allowed Ford Motor Company to turn out one Model T every 24 seconds.

Did you know?

For some employees the only down side of the assembly line was that they would be forced to do the same exact thing over and over and over agian. Sometimes they'd even have to do it over 1,000 times a day. They might of been screwing on a bolt, connecting a pipe or turning a wheel, whatever job they were given they would repeat the entire day they worked.
